About this role
This 6 month work placement opportunity has been created for an individual to gain practical work experience while supporting the day-to-day activities of a busy community-based organisation in Dingle.
This role offers a mix of administrative support and practical involvement in office and event activities.
Main Duties and Learning Areas
The participant will learn and assist with:
Office Administration:
- Answering the phone and taking messages
- Checking emails and forwarding or responding as required
- Sorting and distributing daily post
- Creating simple posters or event notices using MS Word, Publisher or Canva
Meetings & Organisation:
- Supporting the scheduling of meetings and events
- Sending meeting invitations and updating diaries
- Attending meetings with a mentor to understand how the organisation operates
Community & Event Support:
- Meeting and greeting visitors and clients
- Coordinating people coming in and out of the building
- Supporting community activities and small events
- Setting up rooms for meetings and events (arranging chairs, tables and equipment as needed)
- Assisting with event setup and tidy-up afterwards
Daily allocation of the above tasks will vary depending on the needs of the organisation. This is a practical, hands-on placement in an active environment and will suit someone who is organised, reliable,willing to learn and comfortable with both office-based and on-site tasks.
Training
This is a training and work experience opportunity. No previous experience is required.
Participants are eligible to complete the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module, developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection.

- MS 365
- MS Outlook
- MS Teams
Informal Training includes:
- Company induction (including Health & Safety)
- Overview of the organisation
- Phone system training
- Introduction to the company IT system
- How to set up meetings on MS Teams & Outlook calender
