Youth Referee (Soccer and Basketball)

Title:Referee

Reports to: Athletic Director

Location: On Site at Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake (Sugar House, Murray)

Hours: Monday- Thurs typical hours range from 4:30-7:30 pm, 2-4 days a week

Age Requirements: At least 16 years or older

Salary:$15-16/hour DOE

JOB SUMMARY:

Basketball and soccer referees maintain the integrity of youth sports league games by regulating rules and guidelines as necessary. Assists in maintaining timeliness, sportsmanship, and safety of athletes, parents, and community members.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

• Ensure guidelines, rules and sportsmanship are enforced.
• Officiate assigned games for leagues and tournament play.
• Assist in field and/or court set-up and take down.
• Conduct safety and related inspections.
• Report any field and/or court problems to Athletic Director.
• Report any problems with coaches, players, parents or spectators to Athletic Director.
• Ensure safety of staff, participants and citizens.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Must be able to pass a criminal background check
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Age 16+
• Have some knowledge of both basketball and soccer
• Be willing to attend required trainings for youth workers
