Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Help plan and carry out Youth and Recreation programs and events.
  • Assist with setting up and organizing activities for youth and recreation participants.
  • Support staff and volunteers during youth and recreation activities.
  • Help coordinate programming with other departments and groups.
  • Assist with fundraising activities as directed.
  • Help advertise Cold Lake First Nations Youth and Recreation programs and events.
  • Work independently while maintaining a professional attitude and conduct.
  • Be willing to work flexible hours, chaperone youth/athletes, and obtain required coaching certification.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Experience or a strong interest in youth work, recreation, or physical education is required.
  • Possess a valid relevant certification related to Youth or Recreation (e.g. First Aid, Coaching Certificate).
  • Have general knowledge of policies and procedures for youth programming, and community involvement.
  • Valid class 3 ot 5 Alberta's License and access to reliable vehicle.
  • Must be able to provide a Criminal Record Check and a Child Welfare Check.
  • Basic computer knowledge and office skills required.
  • Good verbal, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to work productively with various groups of people to achieve program objectives.
  • Must be creative, resourceful, and able to handle challenging situations.
  • Demonstrate dedication to the position and the community.
  • A general knowledge of Cold Lake First Nations traditions, elders, culture, and dynamics is an asset.


Working Conditions:

  • Monday to Friday (12:00pm to 8:00pm) and Saturday to Sunday (11:00am to 7:00pm), with alternating weekends.
  • Work in office atmosphere as well as outdoors.
  • Work with challenging situations.
  • Sitting, standing and being active for extended periods.
  • Be flexible, and work within a team.
  • Perform repetitive tasks.
