About the role
Reporting to the Compliance Manager, you will provide day-to-day leadership across compliance testing, surveying, fire equipment technicians, maintenance contracts, customer requirements, reporting, quality assurance, and health and safety expectations.
You will play an important part in ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, to a high technical standard, and in line with New Zealand Standards, best trade practice, company procedures, and customer expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, support, train, and coordinate the Auckland Compliance team.
- Manage compliance testing, surveying, remedial works, and fire equipment activities.
- Oversee key customer and maintenance contracts, ensuring service delivery standards are met.
- Provide technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and quality assurance across the team.
- Prepare and review reports, quotations, defect information, and customer documentation.
- Work closely with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, branch teams, and administrators.
- Promote safe work practices, toolbox meetings, incident reporting, and compliance with company health and safety systems.
- Drive continuous improvement, customer satisfaction, and timely completion of work within estimated costings.
About you
You will be a practical, customer-focused leader who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and enjoys supporting others to succeed. You will be comfortable balancing technical work, team coordination, customer service, and operational priorities.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
- At least three years’ experience as a fire protection technician, with five years preferred.
- Relevant NZQA qualifications, with NZQA Level 4 preferred.
- Current or ability to obtain relevant IQP registrations for fire protection.
- Previous leadership, team coordination, or mentoring experience.
- Strong understanding of compliance, testing, servicing, and maintenance requirements.
- Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office and industry-related systems.
- Excellent communication, planning, organization, and time management skills.
- A commitment to quality workmanship, safe work practices, and excellent customer service.
