Alarm Managers Required Tauranga and Rotorua Branches

Following internal promotions, Fire Security Services is looking for two experienced and customer-focused Alarm Managers to lead our Tauranga and Rotorua Alarm teams. One role will be based in
Rotorua and the other in Tauranga. These are hands-on leadership roles for people who bring strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality fire protection services.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading Alarm Technicians, overseeing service delivery, supporting quoting and remedial work, and ensuring our customers receive responsive, professional and technically sound support. You will play a key part in maintaining strong customer relationships, driving team performance, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in line with relevant standards and compliance requirements.


About the Role

Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will lead and support a team of Alarm Technicians while managing day-to-day service priorities, technical escalations, customer communication, quoting, scheduling support and operational follow-up. You will also mentor team members, encourage ongoing training and development, and help build a positive, safety-focused and high-performing team culture.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and support Alarm Technicians to deliver excellent service outcomes.
  • Provide technical guidance and escalation support across alarm service, remedial and installation work.
  • Oversee scheduling priorities and support timely completion of service and remedial jobs.
  • Manage customer communication professionally and respond to customer requirements with urgency.
  • Prepare, review and follow up quotations for alarm, service, compliance and remedial works.
  • Support quality audits, compliance documentation and adherence to relevant NZ Standards and legislation.
  • Promote a strong Health and Safety culture and ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Approve technician timesheets, support invoicing processes and assist with operational reporting as required.
  • Encourage ongoing training, including NZQA-related development where applicable.


About You

You will be a practical, solutions-focused leader who enjoys supporting people, solving technical problems and delivering a high standard of customer service. You will be organised, reliable and confident communicating with customers, technicians, suppliers, contractors and internal teams.


Skills and Experience

  • Technical background in fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Experience in customer service, quoting, scheduling or service coordination.
  • Strong communication, planning and organisational skills.
  • Leadership experience or exposure to supervising a technical team.
  • Knowledge of relevant NZ Standards, the Building Act and compliance requirements.
  • Computer literacy and confidence using job tracking, invoicing, electronic timesheets or similar systems. Uptick knowledge would be an advantage.
  • A strong commitment to Health and Safety, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Preferred: at least five years’ experience as an Alarm Technician, three years’ supervisory experience, and a National Certificate in Fire Detection and Alarm Systems Level 4 or equivalent.
