AOD Practitioner – Hapori Ora (Permanent, Full-time)

If you’re passionate about supporting people to create positive change, this is an opportunity to join Christchurch City Mission’s AOD Team and make a meaningful difference every day. In this full-time role, you’ll work alongside people on their recovery and wellbeing journey through group programmes, assessment, and practical support.

This permanent, full-time role is a collaboration between Christchurch City Mission and Odyssey and is based at Odyssey. You’ll work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 8.00am and 5.00pm, including one late night each week and three hours on a Saturday once a month.

What you’ll do:

  • Facilitate and co-facilitate AOD groups in a strengths-based way
  • Complete screening, brief assessments and treatment planning
  • Provide brief interventions informed by addiction, trauma and mental health knowledge
  • Support people with high and complex needs toward practical wellbeing outcomes
  • Work as part of a collaborative, values-led team

What you’ll bring:

  • Relevant qualification in Alcohol and other drug studies, nursing, social work
  • Experience supporting people through growth, change and recovery
  • Understanding of mental health, substance use, trauma and complex needs
  • Strong cultural awareness and commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team
  • Strong conflict resolution and crisis management skills
  • Full driver’s licence
  • Alignment with the values of Christchurch City Mission and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
