Barge Engineer (BE)

ROLE SUMMARY

This position is responsible for acting as deputy of the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM)
and overall responsible for the safe and efficient execution of all marine activities.
Responsible for the operational safety and efficiency of marine systems on board the drilling
unit. Provide supervision and monitoring for MODU stability and ballasting systems during rig
moving and stationary drilling operations and maintain the MODU within Fontis Energy
programs, policies and procedures. Responsible for operation, maintenance and repair of all
MODU marine and safety related systems.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the marine department operations, including budgetary control.
• Oversee compliance with governing documents, updating as necessary.
• Conduct stability and ballast operations per requirements.
• Provide clear daily operational guidelines to direct reports.
• Perform rig stability and load calculations before, during, and after rig moves.
• Provide technical support for casing, cementing, and material transfers to ensure
uninterrupted operations.
• Supervise cargo transfers, ballast adjustments, and deck crew activities.
• Ensure safe and efficient deck operations, including stowage and material handling.
• Attend daily meetings with department heads and contribute to operational planning.
• Maintain records of weather, inventory, and tank loads.

• Plan and monitor rig stability and ballasting during rig movement and towing
operations.
• Participate in Fontis Energy’s rig objectives, improvement programs, and operations
meetings.
• Assist in planning the annual budget and ensuring financial efficiency.
• Organize competency training and conduct semi-annual personnel assessments.
• Any other matters as deemed necessary by Company Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Preferably a bachelor's degree: Hight school degree or any equivalent.
Years of experience: 2 years’ experience in a supervisory position in oil drilling related
industry. Previous experience as DPO, STCW II/2, or Chief Mate; or Deck Supervisor.
