Cafe Cubanos is gearing up for another exciting winter season in the mountains of Niseko and Hakuba- where powder days, early morning coffees, and apres vibes are all part of the routine. We're a fast-paced, community driven cafe known for great coffee, our flagship Cuban sandwich “the Cubanos”, freshly baked goods and providing welcoming atmosphere for both locals and international travellers. Position Overview

The Chef will be responsible for preparing and delivering consistently high quality food in accordance with the cafe’s menu, recipes and food quality standards. The role supports the smooth operation of the kitchen and food service through effective food preparation, and adherence to food safety and hygiene requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing all sandwich and burrito ingredients for the cafe
• Baking cakes for special occasions such as birthdays if required
• Working alongside the BOH Manager to maintain stock levels, prep lists and hygiene standards
  
• Adhering with food safety standards at all times
• Assisting in the development of our baked good selection and cafe menu
• Baking cakes and other sweet treats daily

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 2 years experience in a Sous-Chef or Head Chef position
• Experience baking western-style cakes and baked sweets (e.g., Carrot cake, brownies & cookies)
• Experience in decorating cakes for celebrations
• Excellent food safety knowledge
• Experience developing menus
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Punctual, reliable and eager for continuous improvement
• Availability from the 3rd of December 2026 to the 18th of April 2027
• Eligible for a Working Holiday Visa in Japan
