About this role

The ideal candidate will have five (5) or more years of civil design experience specifically utilizing Civil 3D within an engineering consulting firm or industrial, manufacturing, or oil and gas environment. The position may require occasional field visits to gather site information, verify existing conditions, and clarify project and client requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical responsibilities required of a Civil Designer
  • Demonstrate expertise in using Autodesk Civil 3D
  • Be eager and open to gaining civil experience from department colleagues
  • Perform field walkdowns without assistance with a project team
  • Proactively coordinate project activities between Civil and other disciplines
  • Create and review project civil deliverables
  • Mentor less experienced designers and technicians
  • Assist with Scope Development and help maintain Budget Control for the CAD team on projects
  • Demonstrate expertise with Valdes' civil engineering work practices
  • Prepare civil scopes of work and material take-offs
  • Prepare and understand plan sets for projects involving site development, grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, and/or land development
  • Experience developing grading plans, utility plans, profiles, and construction documents
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal design standards and permitting requirements
  • Continue to develop expertise with prevalent civil industry codes, standards, and practices from a drawing perspective (i.e., DOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, and NPDES)
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, GIS, or other related design/documentation software.
  • Effectively support CAD efforts outside of CSA when necessary
  • Perform and support CAD audits

    • Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma, Associated Degree or higher preferred
  • Experience: 5 years of experience working in the design or drafting field
  • Demonstrate technical competencies required of a Civil Designer
  • Detail both concrete and steel connections
  • Skillful 2D and 3D CAD expertise - specifically utilizing Civil3D
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Revit experience a plus
  • Navisworks experience is a plus
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
