Concrete Carpenter

Hawkins Construction is a leading commercial concrete contractor serving the St. Louis region, with an expanding presence in Columbia, MO. We are seeking an experienced and skilled Concrete Carpenter to join our construction team in the Columbia area.

The Concrete Carpenter builds and assembles forms for concrete construction, ensuring proper layout, dimensions, alignment, and elevation. This position plays an important role in delivering high-quality concrete structures while maintaining productivity, safety, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Build, install, and remove concrete forms for foundations, walls, footings, slabs, curbs, sidewalks, and other structures.
• Read and interpret construction plans, drawings, specifications, and layout measurements.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and install lumber, plywood, and other forming materials.
• Set forms accurately to required dimensions, elevations, grades, and alignment.
• Assist with the layout and preparation of concrete structures prior to placement.
• Install and secure formwork, bracing, stakes, supports, and other components to ensure forms remain stable during concrete placement.
• Assist with the installation of reinforcing steel, embeds, sleeves, and other materials as required.
• Inspect forms and work areas to ensure proper preparation and compliance with project specifications.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, saws, and other equipment used in concrete construction.
• Assist with concrete placement, stripping forms, cleanup, and other phases of concrete construction as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Work effectively with Foremen, Superintendents, laborers, finishers, and other crew members to meet daily production goals.
• Follow all company and job-site safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Foreman or Superintendent.

Qualifications & Skills

• Previous experience as a Concrete Carpenter, Form Carpenter, or Carpenter in commercial concrete construction preferred.
• Strong understanding of concrete forming methods and construction practices.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
• Ability to accurately measure, calculate, and work from dimensions and elevations.
• Proficiency with common carpentry hand tools and power tools.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Class A CDL preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel to assigned job sites.
• Willingness to work occasional weekends and extended hours when project demands require.
