We are now looking for an experienced Estimator to join our growing team.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity for an experienced construction Estimator to take ownership of the estimating process across a range of high-value building envelope projects.

You will be involved from the initial review of tender information through to final submission and project handover, working closely with our Commercial, Pre-Construction, Design and Operations teams to develop accurate and competitive project pricing.

The role will suit someone who enjoys the detail of estimating, understands how construction projects are priced and can confidently challenge information, identify risks and opportunities, and build a clear commercial picture of each opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

• Review tender enquiries, drawings, specifications and other project documentation.
• Maintain an overview of tender opportunities and the project pipeline.
• Complete detailed quantity take-offs and measurements from drawings.
• Prepare accurate Bills of Quantities and detailed project cost estimates.
• Develop rate build-ups for all elements of work, ensuring required margins are achieved.
• Obtain, assess and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Ensure competitive and accurate tenders are submitted within required deadlines.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities and potential cost savings throughout the tender process.
• Carry out value engineering exercises and develop cost-saving proposals where appropriate.
• Liaise with clients and main contractors, including following up on submitted tenders and project status.
• Support the Commercial Director and Commercial team in negotiations through to project award.
• Prepare project budgets based on tender-stage costs following successful award.
• Support the commercial handover of awarded projects to the Quantity Surveying, Design and Operations teams.
• Clearly communicate key assumptions, risks, opportunities, budgets and tender information during project handover.
• Assist with securing competitive rates from suppliers, plant hire companies and subcontractors during the pre-construction phase.
• Work collaboratively with the wider estimating and commercial teams and provide support on tenders where required.

Requirements

About You

We are looking for an experienced Estimator who is commercially minded, highly organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-led environment.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as an Estimator within the construction industry.
• Experience estimating roofing, cladding, façades or another building envelope discipline is highly desirable.
• A strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Experience completing detailed quantity take-offs and preparing project costs.
• Strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of margins, budgets, risk and opportunity.
• Experience obtaining, assessing and negotiating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong IT skills and experience working with estimating and/or construction software.
• A construction-related qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
• A current driving licence.
