About the Role

The primary purpose of the Course Instructor (EMT) position is to teach the basic EMT training program and EMT recertification course offered by the Emergency Medical Services department, and to facilitate learning in the classroom. Works in conjunction with the EMS Training Division and the Community Training Center leaders and staff to ensure quality education programs are delivered.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

• • Instructs and facilitates classroom-based EMT initial certification and recertification courses offered through the Emergency Medical Services Department.
  • Delivers engaging educational programs that support student learning and successful completion of EMT training requirements.
  • Collaborates with the EMS Training Division, Community Training Center leadership, and staff to maintain high-quality instructional standards.
  • Promotes a positive learning environment that encourages student participation, knowledge retention, and professional development.
  • Supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of EMS education programs to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Works closely with training personnel to provide effective and consistent EMT education to students and community participants.

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

• EMT Instructor Certification required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching Basic Life Support (BLS) courses required.
• New Jersey EMT, EMD, or MICP certification preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and community partners.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to effectively deliver educational content and facilitate classroom instruction.

Compensation

The expected hourly rate is $30/hr, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law.
