The Department of Mechanical Engineering is inviting applications for a course lecturer position to teach in Winter 2027. Please include your cover letter and Curriculum Vitae.

Course Lecturer MECH 346 Heat Transfer

Instructor must cover all material as written in the Course Outline on the McGill Course Catalogue page, as follows:

• Basic concepts and overview. Steady and unsteady heat conduction. Fin Theory. Convective heat transfer: governing equations; dimensionless parameters; analogy between momentum and heat transfer. Design correlations for forced, natural, and mixed convection. Heat exchangers. Radiative heat transfer: black- and gray-body radiation; shape factors; enclosure theory. Thermal engineering design project.

Teaching Qualification Requirements:

• Minimum of a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.
• Evidence of highly effective teaching ability or of superior communications skills and potential for teaching excellence with previous teaching experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• The candidate area of specialization should be as close as possible to that of the course being offered.
• Demonstrated knowledge of spoken and written English.
• Understanding cross-cultural practices.

Salary:

$11,824 per course
