Dietician - Up to 140K annually - Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE Certified)

Akicita Federal is hiring a Dietitian/Nurse Educator to deliver integrated nutrition and health education services for the Indian Health Service (IHS) community in Jicarilla, NM. This role supports a federally served patient population by combining clinical dietary expertise with nurse educator responsibilities to improve long-term health outcomes. This role supports Indian Health Service (IHS) patients by promoting culturally appropriate nutrition and wellness practices across various clinical settings, including outpatient, inpatient, and community health.

Provide individualized medical nutrition therapy and dietary counseling to patients across a range of chronic and acute conditions.

- Develop and deliver culturally responsive health education programs targeting nutrition-related conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease.

- Conduct nutritional assessments, interpret lab values, and translate findings into actionable care plans in coordination with the broader clinical team.

- Educate patients, families, and community members on disease prevention, healthy eating practices, and self-management strategies.

- Document patient encounters, education sessions, and care plan updates accurately and in compliance with IHS standards.

- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to integrate nutrition and education goals into multidisciplinary treatment plans.

- Participate in community outreach and wellness initiatives designed to address the specific health priorities of the Jicarilla Apache community.
