ERP Material Control Lead

BOM Lifecycle & Data Integrity

• Own MBOM readiness review and PBOM creation/maintenance for all active programs (20+ across Phoenix and Buffalo)

• Reconcile EBOM and MBOM on release; build the indented manufacturing structure required for the ERP

• Own initial ERP item setup, BOM upload, and demand creation; prevent duplicate item creation through system record review

• Maintain ongoing alignment between the working BOM, PBOM, and ERP as designs mature part substitutions, additions, removals, ECN/ECR changes

• Manage demand adjustments as quantities increase, decrease, or are eliminated

Engineering & Manufacturing Coordination

• Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to validate raw-material requirements for MAKE items, including material type/specification, stock form, size, quantity, and other attributes needed to support accurate purchasing and ERP demand

• Review engineering drawings and BOM structures as needed to validate parent-child relationships, assembly/subassembly hierarchy, quantities, and downstream ERP structure; identify discrepancies and route technical questions back to the appropriate Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering owner

• Serve as the point of coordination across Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, IT, and Production for BOM/system questions

• For projects where Procurement must buy ahead of a complete MBOM (e.g., early PO releases), work directly with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to build the interim structure needed to purchase

Process Definition & Continuous Improvement

• Define and document the BOM lifecycle process (Engineering release to MBOM to PBOM to ERP to demand to production handoff) and drive consistent ownership at each stage

• Manage the pre-production-to-production handoff so BOM/system ownership formally transfers to Manufacturing/Production Engineering, rather than remaining with this team indefinitely

• Partner with each sites ERP administrator on system setup, upload mechanics, and process optimization

Team Leadership & Development

• Train and provide technical direction to the ERP Material Control Coordinator

• Set standards and expectations for BOM data quality, accuracy, and process compliance

• Build the Coordinators technical understanding and site-specific ERP proficiency to ensure Buffalo has continuity and a trained second resource

• 5+ years of experience in ERP systems, supply chain, material planning, BOM management, or manufacturing engineering

• Demonstrated experience creating, managing, and maintaining Bills of Materials (EBOM, MBOM, PBOM) in a manufacturing environment

• Hands-on proficiency with ERP systems (experience with multiple systems preferred) including BOM modules, demand planning, and inventory management

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications, assembly instructions, and technical documentation

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including fabrication, assembly, subassembly structures, and production workflows

• Experience with change management, including Engineering Change Notices (ECN), Engineering Change Requests (ECR), and revision control

• Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve data discrepancies, quality issues, and system problems under production pressure

• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams across Engineering, Operations, and IT

• Experience training, mentoring, and providing technical direction to junior team members or coordinators

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and data analysis

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with multiple ERP platforms (e.g., Epicor, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) or recent version upgrades/implementations

• Experience in a multi-site or matrix manufacturing environment with different ERP systems at different locations

• Background in fabrication, metalworking, assembly operations, or contract manufacturing

• Experience with Production/Product lifecycle management (PLM) or engineering data management systems

• Familiarity with MRP/MPS (Master Production Scheduling) concepts and demand forecasting

• Certification in supply chain management (APICS CSCP, CPIM) or equivalent professional development

• SQL or basic database query experience for data extraction and reporting

10-15% travel to Buffalo, NY
