About the Role

We are excited to invite applications for a dedicated and skilled individual to join us as a Ferry Captain at DFDS. This role is pivotal for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our ferries, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and leading the onboard team with excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Navigation and Operations: Oversee the ferry's safe navigation and operations, ensuring compliance with established routes, schedules, and safety standards.
• Team Leadership: Lead and manage the onboard crew, fostering a collaborative and motivated environment to ensure high levels of service and safety.
• Customer Experience: Enhance passenger experience by ensuring effective communication with passengers, handling inquiries, and addressing any onboard concerns swiftly and professionally.
• Emergency Management: Prepare and train the crew for emergency situations, coordinating drills and maintaining all safety equipment and protocols in top condition.
• Operational Excellence: Work creatively to continue improving service delivery and operational efficiency, ensuring all operations are completed with attention to detail.

Requirements:

• Certification: Valid and current certification for ferry or ship command as per maritime regulations.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of maritime experience with at least 2 years in a leadership position.
• Attention to Detail: Proven ability to monitor complex operations closely and ensure high standards are consistently met.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, capable of effective dialogue with passengers and crew alike.
• Traits: Adaptable, collaborative, demonstrating creative excellence and passion for securing operational success, with excellent coordination skills.
