Provide financial leadership and oversight across the Bank’s investment budget

Te tūranga – The role

As Finance Project Manager, you’ll provide senior financial leadership and have primary accountability for the financial oversight of the Reserve Bank’s investment budget and the funding flowing through it.

Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the project portfolio, you’ll provide strategic financial insight and challenge the robustness and integrity of project financials, including capital expenditure, operating expenditure, benefits and ongoing run costs.

In this influential role, you’ll:

• Review and challenge the financial assumptions underpinning business cases and forecasts.

• Provide a strong value-for-money lens to investment proposals, identifying potential efficiencies, benefits and savings.

• Work closely with the EPMO Manager on the financial elements and analysis of the project portfolio.

• Support Project Managers and Business Owners to effectively manage project budgets and forecasts, while helping to strengthen financial capability.

• Monitor portfolio-level forecasts, identifying early warnings and potential impacts on the Bank’s investment funding.

• Ensure ongoing costs arising from projects are appropriately reflected in business-as-usual budgets.

• Own and continuously improve project financial processes, policies, templates and guidance.

• Provide trusted advice and assurance to senior decision-makers on portfolio finance matters

We’re looking for an experienced finance professional who can combine strategic thinking and sound judgement with the confidence to constructively challenge assumptions and influence investment decisions.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• Senior-level leadership experience within a major financial institution, supervisory authority, central bank or similarly complex organisation.

• Strong qualifications in a financial discipline, supported by relevant professional experience.

• Experience providing financial oversight across complex projects, investment portfolios or large programmes of work.

• A strong understanding of financial control frameworks, accounting rules and standards.

• Proven ability to review business cases, budgets and forecasts and provide credible financial advice.

• Excellent influencing, communication and stakeholder management skills.

• The ability to lead innovation and change in a collaborative and constructive way.

• Sound judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to consider issues from an organisation-wide perspective.

The anticipated appointment range for this role is $152,325 to $177,712.50 (actual salary will be dependent on your skills and experience).
