Intertek, a global leader in ATIC (Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification) Services, is actively looking for experienced Freelance OCTG Inspectors to join our network of freelancers and support multiple ongoing projects across Norway.
Job Summary:
The OCTG Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections of Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) including casing, tubing, and drill pipe, to ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., API, ISO) and customer specifications. This role involves visual inspections, dimensional checks, NDT (Non-Destructive Testing), and documentation of inspection results to ensure quality and integrity of tubular products used in the oil and gas industry.
Key Responsibilities:

Conduct visual, dimensional, and NDT inspections on OCTG materials (casing, tubing, drill pipe).

Verify compliance with API, ISO, DS-1, and customer-specific requirements.

Operate inspection tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, ultrasonic testing units, EMI equipment, and thread gauges.

Interpret and analyze test results and inspection data.

Document inspection findings, prepare detailed reports, and maintain traceable records.

Tag and segregate non-conforming materials and report discrepancies.

Liaise with production, QA, and third-party inspection teams.

Ensure all inspection activities are performed safely and according to HSE guidelines.

Participate in audits and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent (required).

API Q1/Q2, DS-1, or equivalent certifications (preferred).

NDT certifications (UT, MT, PT, EMI) are a strong asset.

2+ years of experience in OCTG or related inspection roles.

Knowledge of API standards (API 5CT, 5DP, 7-1) and DS-1 protocols.

Experience with inspection in a pipe yard, rig site, or manufacturing environment is advantageous.
Skills:

Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Proficient in MS Office and digital inspection/reporting tools.

Effective verbal and written communication.
Work Environment:

Field and yard-based work in varying weather conditions.

May require travel or rotational shifts.

Physical demands include lifting, standing for extended periods, and operating inspection equipment.
