GameTech Lab Intern
AI Summary
The GameTech Lab Intern at Paradox Interactive tests PC games for hardware compatibility and performance, assembles and maintains test machines, inventories gaming hardware, and collaborates with partners like Nvidia and AMD. The role involves installing operating systems, setting up testing software, collecting performance data, writing QA bug tickets, and producing reports on unreleased titles, while also handling shipping logistics and Lab administration.
About this role
The goal of the Lab is to test Paradox titles for hardware compatibility and performance, and to work with partners (Nvidia, AMD, etc.) to secure the latest gaming kit. As the intern in the Lab, you will help with inventorying this hardware, curating our stock, and researching what extra components we need so that the Lab stays up to date. You will use these components to assemble test machines, including troubleshooting, installing operating systems and setting up testing software.
You will assist with performance evaluations by testing games on hardware platforms. You will collect performance data using tracking tools, tabulate results and write QA bug tickets. You will help produce reports that investigate the performance state of unreleased titles.
Additionally, you will help with research, deepening the Lab's understanding of the gaming hardware market. You will assist in organizing reports, handle shipping logistics, and help with the administration of the Lab's daily operations. As the intern, you will be part of the Publishing Production team and report to the Publishing Production Manager.
Basic requirements:
Some knowledge of and hands-on experience with PC hardware
Comfortable with computer games
Good with office software, such as G-Suite or similar
Detail-oriented, organized, and patient with solving technical problems
Fluency in English, both written and spoken
You're technically minded, you like computer hardware, and you're comfortable with PC software. You have strong organizational skills and like keeping things in order — and of course, you like computer games!
Bonus if you have:
Experience with OS deployment, software installation, or basic networking
Prior QA experience or familiarity with JIRA, Linux, or Mac
Familiarity with AI tool suites
Interest in areas like ray tracing or performance upscalers
"You'll get a hands-on internship in a skilled team, that will give you valuable experience within the core of Paradox's tech behind the scenes. You'll have an onboarding period at the start, so you're not expected to know everything on day one — as long as you're willing to learn, we'll teach you what's needed as you go".
