Lead the kitchen at The Claude

Are you a Head Chef who loves a busy kitchen, great pub food and leading a team to deliver brilliant dishes every time?

We’re looking for a passionate Head Chef to join the team at The Claude in Cardiff – a lively, characterful pub on Albany Road with a real community feel.

From classic pub favourites and hand-battered fish & chips to burgers, steaks and Sunday roasts, food is at the heart of what we do. With live sport, family dining, a beer garden and a busy atmosphere throughout the week, there’s always something happening at The Claude.

What we're looking for

You don't need to be a Michelin-starred chef – we're looking for someone who knows how to run a great pub kitchen.

You'll ideally have:

• Experience as a Head Chef, Kitchen Manager or experienced Sous Chef ready for the next step
• A genuine passion for great food and hospitality
• Experience leading and developing a kitchen team
• Strong organisation and communication skills
• Good understanding of kitchen controls, food safety and GP
• The confidence to stay calm and lead from the front during busy services

Most importantly, you'll care about your team, your food and the experience we give our guests.

Qualifications

As a Head Chef, you will…

• Take the reins in the kitchen, whether you are making decisions or coming up with fresh ways to help the team run better together.
• Communicate clearly with your team in order to provide high-quality meals to customers on time.
• Recognise and lead the team as a whole, understanding how to maximise their potential.
• Maintain hygiene levels and safety regulations in the kitchen to help to guarantee the care of your entire team and visitors.

What you’ll bring to the kitchen:

• Experience managing a busy kitchen, training and developing a high performing team who constantly exceed targets.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen and getting the best out of your team around you.
• A keen eye for delivering tasty and well-presented meals to customers each and every time.
• Skill and willingness to take on and adapt to challenges whilst working in a busy kitchen.
• Sufficient spoken and written English to perform the role safely and understand allergen controls.
