About this role
One of Malta's leading professional organisations is looking for an experienced Head of Client Accounting to join their team. This is an office-based role offering a salary of up to €65K.
Role & Responsibilities
Manage and mentor the accounting team
Carry out performance reviews, deliver feedback, and support career development
Distribute workloads and resources to meet deadlines
Take ownership of financial statement preparation and review across a diverse client base
Serve as the main point of contact for external auditors during client audits
Oversee payroll processing, VAT compliance, and other statutory obligations
Ensure client work meets IFRS, GAAP, GAPSME, local tax law, and statutory filing standards
Develop and improve internal procedures to boost accuracy and efficiency across the team
Build strong client relationships as a senior contact, offering solutions tailored to their needs
Identify opportunities to expand service offerings and introduce clients to additional firm services
Collaborate with the Tax and Co-Sec teams to deliver a joined-up client experience
Keep up to date with changes in accounting standards, tax legislation, and industry regulations
Track developments in accounting software and support digital transformation efforts
Maintain professional warrants and memberships through ongoing CPD, as per Maltese regulatory requirements
Education, Skills & Experience
Bachelor/Masters in Accounting, ACCA qualification, or an equivalent professional certification
5+ years of experience in a senior accounting role
Previous experience in a leadership role within a CSP or professional services environment
Fluency in English (C2/native level), both written and spoken
Excellent knowledge in IFRS, GAAP, tax compliance, and statutory reporting
Able to analyse financial data to spot trends, risks, and solutions
Able to explain financial concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Manages deadlines well and adapts to changing regulations and technologies
