This position has flexibility for some work from home.

As per our FT Employment policy, all employees start at start rate ($1,087 per week).

Benefits include company paid medical & dental (except LTD), 3 weeks of vacation plus 2 weeks of personal time (pro-rated), as well as paid closure at the end of the year. We also have additional internal benefits such as health and wellness and education reimbursement.

On campus parking is at the employee's cost.


Overview

The MSU represents full-time undergraduate students at McMaster University. The MSU purpose is to draw into a true society all students at McMaster University. In pursuit of this, it will foster activities and events which will enhance the University experience of its members and contribute to the life of the University as a whole. Further, it will seek to facilitate communication between the student body, the University and other organizations and will organize and regulate student self-government.

Human Resources Coordinator role will support and enhance our organization and employee experience, with a focus on learning, development, on-boarding and assistance to the services and committees. This role will collaborate with leaders across the organization and play a key role in ensuring our staff are equipped with the tools, knowledge and support for their roles and development. Working with the HR Director, the HR Coordinator will provide administrative and project-based support across a broad range of HR functions. This role requires detail oriented and creative thinking with a passion for learning and development at all levels of the organization.


Responsibilities

Organizational Development& On-boarding

  • Develop assessment tools to review existing resources andmodulesprovided by MSU services & businesses andconsolidaterecommendations for areas of improvement
  • On-boardingfor all staff in conjunction with HR Director and service managers, collaborating with campus stakeholders as needed
  • Develop, coordinate and/or deliver professional / skill development workshops throughout the academic year for staff and volunteers

Training and Development

  • Identify, develop, update and monitor training opportunities and requirements for the MSU as needed
  • In conjunction with department and service managers, oversee the implementation of applicable training for staff and volunteers
  • Including peer supportservicetraining, PTMand FT staff
  • Identifyinternal and external training programs to address competency gaps
  • Map out training plans, design and develop training programs
  • Organize, develop, or source training programs to meet specific training needs
  • Assists with the development of and monitors the spending of the corporate training budget
  • Maintains employee training records
  • Assist with transition reports as needed



General Human Resources and other duties as assigned

  • Assistwith employee relations in absence of HR Director
  • Provide guidance andassistanceto committees/servicesin need ofadditionalsupports/training
  • As needed byBoard of Director via HR Director
  • Assistwith keeping employment and workplace policies and documents updated
  • Assistwith hiring as needed
  • Including questions, scheduling, training,interviewing,contracts etc


Qualifications

The successful candidate will haveHR Coordinatorexperiencewitha focus on supporting training,developmentand onboarding initiatives. The following qualifications are minimum expectations for the successful candidate:

  • Post-Secondary education inarelatedfieldor completion of a professional development program in personnel administration
  • CHRP designation or working towards CHRP designation is an asset
  • ****Experience inHR systems and learning platforms ****

  • Must have good interpersonal skillsin order toeffectively communicate with a variety of different people including students, part-timeandfull-time staff,suppliersand University stakeholders

                  • General office environment, cubicle offices (potentially shared)
                  • Must be able to work effectively with frequent interruptions to meet the needs and requests of staff and students
                  • Regular use of a computer may cause eyestrain if not managed
                  • Frequency of pressures will be cyclical with a higher level of activity in the academic year
                  • Time demands may exceed stated hours of work
                  • Occasionalwork outside of regular working hours may berequired
