Annual Salary Range: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00

POSITION SUMMARY: Oversee the daily operations of the Human Resources Department.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions Statements:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Human Resources Department.
  • Assists in revising the Employee Handbook to reflect any changes in law, regulations, Personnel policies and/or procedures.
  • Works collaboratively with other HR staff members to ensure company culture, and policies and procedures are applied consistently.
  • Oversees the Unemployment Insurance Claims. Contacts Third Party Unemployment Insurance administrator to discuss unemployment claims. Attends Unemployment Insurance hearings and serves as a witness for Goodwill, as needed.
  • Provides direction, guidance and support to management staff in handing Human Resources matters.
  • Promptly investigates Employment Relationship claims involving harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. Works collaboratively with management in taking action to solve the claim, if needed, and in accordance with Goodwill’s culture, precedents, policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
  • Documents, investigations and resolution. Follow up with claimant, if needed.
  • Oversees the New Hire Orientation process. Assures all appropriate new hire paperwork meets employment laws guidelines.
  • Oversees payroll process ensuring compliance.
  • Provides training and professional development opportunities to direct reports. Assures their performance meet/exceed expectations in order to achieve department’s goals.
  • Keeps informed of any changes in State, Federal and Local employment laws and apprises appropriate staff. Ensures that Goodwill’s personnel policies and procedures adhere to these laws and regulations. For example, FMLA, CFRA, FEHA, ADA, PDL, COBRA, etc.
  • Assists Director of Human Resources with completing state and federally mandated reports.
  • Oversees the Health and Wellness program.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    Education: Human Resources management training through an accredited college or university required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    Experience: Minimum of 5 years HR experience.

    Computer Skills: Basic computer skills. MS Office, internet, email.

    Certificates & Licenses: Valid California Drivers License with driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance.

    Other: Must meet the background check requirements of the department.
