Intensive care Consultant

Our leading healthcare facility is looking for an experienced Consultant Intensive Care Physician / Intensivist to lead the management of critically ill patients and provide advanced intensive care services. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in ICU management, advanced life support, organ support, and multidisciplinary critical care. Modern intensivist roles include direct management of critically ill patients, resuscitation, coordination of multidisciplinary teams, and ICU quality and safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the assessment and management of critically ill medical and surgical patients in the ICU.
• Manage patients with sepsis, septic shock, respiratory failure, multi-organ failure, cardiac emergencies, neurological emergencies, and severe infections.
• Provide advanced airway management and mechanical ventilation.
• Manage invasive and non-invasive ventilation and other forms of respiratory support.
• Provide hemodynamic monitoring and cardiovascular support.
• Manage fluid, electrolyte, acid-base, nutritional, and metabolic requirements of critically ill patients.
• Perform critical care procedures such as central venous access, arterial lines, airway procedures, and other ICU interventions within clinical expertise.
• Coordinate emergency resuscitation, rapid response, and critical care support throughout the hospital.
• Review and interpret laboratory investigations, ABGs, ECGs, imaging, microbiology, and other diagnostic results.
• Lead multidisciplinary ICU rounds and coordinate treatment plans with relevant specialties.
• Communicate clearly with patients' families regarding diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options, and clinical progress.
• Supervise and mentor junior physicians and ICU clinical staff.
• Develop and implement ICU protocols, patient-safety measures, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in clinical audits, teaching, research, and continuing medical education.

Qualifications & Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Critical Care Medicine / Intensive Care Medicine / Anaesthesiology / Internal Medicine / Emergency Medicine or an appropriate equivalent.
• Advanced training or fellowship in Critical Care / Intensive Care Medicine preferred.
• Significant post-specialization experience with Consultant-level experience.
• Extensive experience managing complex ICU and critically ill patients.
• Strong expertise in mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic support, and advanced resuscitation.
• Excellent clinical decision-making, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary critical care team.
