Role Purpose
Lead and oversee the Business Control Management function within International Wealth, ensuring a strong risk and control environment across sales governance, client onboarding, regulatory compliance, operational risk management, and conduct oversight. Partner closely with business, compliance, risk, and audit stakeholders to drive a culture of accountability, integrity, and effective risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Risk & Control Management
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the business control framework across International Wealth.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate key business, operational, conduct, and regulatory risks.
- Oversee control testing, thematic reviews, and surveillance activities to proactively identify control weaknesses and recommend remediation actions.
- Monitor the effectiveness of key controls and ensure timely resolution of identified gaps.
Governance & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and governance standards.
- Provide oversight on client onboarding processes, including KYC, AML/CFT, suitability, and sales conduct controls.
- Act as a key liaison with Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, and external regulators where required.
- Oversee regulatory, audit, and compliance reviews, ensuring timely closure of findings and action plans.
Surveillance & Conduct Oversight
- Drive surveillance and monitoring programmes to identify potential conduct, sales practice, and regulatory breaches.
- Provide independent challenge and escalation of emerging risks and control concerns.
- Oversee investigations and root cause analyses of control incidents and regulatory breaches.
Risk Culture & Training
- Promote a strong risk and compliance culture across the International Wealth business.
- Lead risk awareness initiatives, training programmes, and workshops to strengthen employee understanding of regulatory and control requirements.
- Provide advisory support to business leaders on risk and control-related matters.
Stakeholder Management & Reporting
- Prepare and present risk and control updates to senior management and governance committees.
- Develop management reports, dashboards, and presentations on key risk indicators, control effectiveness, and emerging risks.
- Establish strong partnerships with Wealth Management leadership, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and other control functions.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Banking, Finance, Business, Risk Management, Law, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10–15 years of relevant banking experience, with significant exposure to Risk Management, Compliance, Business Control, Audit, or Governance functions.
- Strong understanding of Wealth Management, Private Banking, AML/KYC requirements, conduct risk, and regulatory expectations.
- Experience managing regulatory reviews, surveillance programmes, audit engagements, and remediation initiatives.
- Prior people leadership experience is preferred.

Preferred Experience
- Experience in FAA governance, sales conduct surveillance, AML/CFT controls, regulatory compliance, and audit management.
- Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, CFA, FRM, or equivalent will be advantageous.
