Junior Reengineering Specialist

Overview

Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is searching for a Junior Reengineering Specialist to support business process analysis, workflow documentation, and process improvement activities. The Junior Reengineering Specialist will work with senior team members and organizational stakeholders to document existing processes, identify basic inefficiencies, and support the development and testing of improved workflows.

Job Description

The Junior Reengineering Specialist will provide analytical and process support under the guidance of experienced team members. This position will assist with gathering operational information, documenting existing workflows, identifying process steps and handoffs, and organizing findings into clear process documentation.

The Junior Reengineering Specialist will also support the development of future-state workflows, process documentation, job aids, and pilot testing activities while ensuring deliverables follow established policies, internal controls, and documentation requirements.

Required Skills

• 3+ years of relevant professional experience
• Experience supporting business analysis, process improvement, or workflow documentation activities
• Experience gathering operational or business requirements
• Experience documenting process steps, handoffs, and dependencies
• Ability to identify basic delays, bottlenecks, and redundant activities
• Experience developing or supporting process maps, workflow charts, or similar documentation
• Experience creating or updating SOPs, templates, or job aids
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to organize findings into clear and usable documentation
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior analysts, technical teams, and stakeholders
• Ability to follow established policies, procedures, internal controls, and documentation standards

Desired Skills

• Experience participating in stakeholder interviews or discovery workshops
• Exposure to business process reengineering or workflow redesign
• Experience collecting and organizing stakeholder feedback
• Experience supporting process pilot testing
• Familiarity with workflow automation or digital process improvement concepts
• Experience working in a federal government or similarly regulated environment

Job Responsibilities

• Assist with reviews of existing (“as-is”) business processes and workflows
• Gather operational information from stakeholders and supporting documentation
• Support discovery workshops and process review sessions
• Document process steps, handoffs, decision points, and dependencies
• Help identify basic delays, bottlenecks, redundant activities, and other inefficiencies
• Organize process findings into clear baseline documentation
• Support development of initial future-state (“to-be”) workflow components
• Assist with documenting requirements for process improvements
• Prepare draft workflow charts, process maps, and templates
• Create and update SOPs and job aids
• Support pilot testing activities
• Collect user feedback and operational data
• Track observations and requested changes
• Assist with updating process documentation based on testing results
• Collaborate with senior reengineering specialists and other technical team members
• Ensure work products comply with applicable policies, internal controls, and federal requirements
