Lead Software Engineer

The Lead Software Engineer will architect the technical foundation for our next phase of growth—championing Angkas’ core values, ensuring the delivery of high-performance releases, and driving the engineering innovations required to bring seamless, accessible transport to the Filipino masses.

What you’ll be doing:

• Architect and Standardize: Lead the design and evolution of high-performance, cross-platform mobile architectures using Flutter, ensuring a unified and scalable codebase for both iOS and Android.
• Strategic Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional leadership-including Product, Design, and Backend - to translate business objectives into technical roadmaps and bridge the gap between product vision and engineering execution.
• Performance Engineering: Oversee the implementation of complex features, setting the gold standard for app responsiveness, resource optimization, and long-term reliability.
• Agile Leadership: Drive engineering excellence within Agile ceremonies, streamlining sprint planning and refinements to accelerate delivery velocity and team predictability.
• Technical Governance: Establish rigorous code review standards, comprehensive testing strategies (Unit/Integration), and CI/CD best practices to ensure world-class maintainability and performance.
• Tech Stack Evolution: Act as a technical scout, identifying and integrating modern technologies and patterns to keep the Angkas ecosystem at the forefront of the industry.
• UI/UX Stewardship: Champion a culture of "pixel-perfection," ensuring the engineering team delivers high-fidelity interfaces that align strictly with design specifications and brand identity.
• Global Technical Liaison: Lead and mentor distributed engineering teams across different time zones, fostering a collaborative, high-trust environment through clear technical documentation and communication.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional development experience
• Proven track record of architecting high-scale mobile applications, leveraging deep expertise in Native development (Android/iOS) alongside advanced Flutter and Dart implementation.
• Authority in the mobile ecosystem with a command of Flutter, Java, Kotlin, Objective-C, and Swift, ensuring seamless integration between cross-platform code and native modules.
• Expert-level application of Clean Architecture, MVVM, and OOP principles to build modular, testable, and maintainable codebases that scale with organizational growth.
• Strategic oversight of CI/CD pipelines and version control workflows (Git) to automate quality assurance and accelerate deployment cycles.
• Extensive experience leading the integration of mission-critical 3rd party services, including Geospatial/Maps API, advanced Analytics, and Payment Gateways.
• Hands-on mastery of mobile-first growth tools, including A/B testing frameworks, Push Notification engines, and complex Deep-linking strategies to drive user engagement.
• Champion of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), utilizing Jira and ClickUp to manage engineering velocity, remove blockers, and ensure transparent project tracking.
• Experience implementing AI/ML models at the mobile edge and server-side to power predictive features such as dynamic ETAs, personalized user experiences, and automated fraud detection.
