Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Use your nursing background to support patients navigating specialty care within a military healthcare environment, helping process referrals, answer questions, and address issues that could affect access to care.

At International SOS Government Medical Services, you'll support healthcare programs that improve patient care and operational readiness across the U.S. and internationally. Founded in 1984, International SOS operates in more than 90 countries, delivering healthcare, medical assistance, emergency response, and workforce support services worldwide.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supporting referral management services, you’ll process specialty care referrals, research clinical information, resolve referral processing issues, and respond to patients with questions about referral status.

You’ll work with MHS GENESIS and other military healthcare systems to review information, maintain referral workflows, and help patients receive clear, responsive support throughout the referral process.

Compensation and Benefits

• $27.94–$31.04 per hour
• Health & Welfare: Up to $5.09 per hour, in accordance with the SCA.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, excluding federal holidays. Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Process and disposition specialty care referrals in accordance with established procedures.
• Research claims, clinical history, chart notes, and other available information to support referral processing.
• Identify and correct referral processing errors, close expired referrals as directed, and request chart notes when needed.
• Respond to patient questions about referral status and work to resolve calls using available resources.
• Conduct outbound calls as required.
• Provide secure messaging support through MHS GENESIS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited community college, junior college, college, university, or vocational nursing program approved by the appropriate state agency.
• Valid, unrestricted nursing license in good standing, with no clinical restrictions in any jurisdiction where a license is currently held or has been held within the past 10 years.
• Full-time employment in nursing during the last 12 months.
• Knowledge, skills, and computer literacy to interpret and apply medical-care criteria such as InterQual or Milliman Ambulatory Care Guidelines.
• Referral management experience and working knowledge of CHCS, MHS GENESIS, TRICARE, and other military healthcare systems.
• General working knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Critical-thinking skills, attention to detail, knowledge of general medical ethics, and professional telephone, customer-service, and written/verbal/electronic communication skills.
