Position Overview

The Main Line Technician is responsible for performing vehicle repair and maintenance work in accordance with BMW and dealership standards. This role includes diagnosing vehicle malfunctions, executing repairs with precision, and supervising apprentice technicians as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

 

• Receive repair orders from the dispatcher and proceed to the assigned service stall
• Perform repair and maintenance work with efficiency and accuracy according to dealership and factory standards
• Diagnose vehicle malfunctions and determine appropriate repair solutions
• Communicate with the parts department to obtain necessary components
• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify additional safety or service requirements
• Notify the service advisor of any additional work needed or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe
• Save and tag parts for warranty claims or as requested by customers
• Document all work performed accurately and completely
• Road-test vehicles when required or coordinate with the test technician, ensuring customer vehicles are not used for personal errands
• Supervise and mentor apprentice technicians assigned to your team
• Maintain current knowledge of factory technical bulletins and attend factory-sponsored training classes
• Ensure customer vehicles remain clean throughout the service process
• Maintain a neat and organized shop area and account for all dealership-owned tools
• Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report any accidents to management

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

 

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record
• Authorization to work in the United States
• ASE certification or equivalent manufacturing/automotive training
• Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
• Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to pass pre-employment screening, including background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug test
• Commitment to following all company safety policies and procedures

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Demonstrated high Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) scores
• Previous BMW or luxury automotive service experience
• Factory-sponsored technical training or certifications
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior technicians
