Key Responsibilities of Medical Assistant:


Assists Medical Providers with inbound phone and fax line medication refill requests


Ensures effective communication with nursing staff, physicians and other relevant personnel; while maintaining timely and accurate data entry to patient records within facility databases.


Attends mandatory staff meetings and training sessions, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to policies and procedures in providing high-quality patient care.


Additional Tasks Including but not limited to:


  • Documenting patients' medical information, including medical history and health insurance information
  • Coordinating daily office activities, greeting patients, and checking patients in and out for their appointments
  • Recording patients' vital signs, documenting physicians' notes and changes in medical conditions
  • Taking tissue and fluid samples and sending them in for laboratory analysis
  • Prepping exam rooms for clinical procedures and assisting practitioners with patient care
  • Assisting physicians during routine checkups, outpatient procedures and other physical exams
  • Monitoring and documenting patient symptoms for physicians' review during clinical exams
  • Providing compassionate patient support and care, attention, and assistance during office visits
  • Preparing and administering medications under the direction of supervising physicians or nurse practitioners.
  • Maintain staff records
  • Schedule patients accurately within guidelines and protocols of practice
  • Contact insurance companies for benefits information and obtain information regarding copayments/deductibles to be collected at the time of service.
  • Contact physician offices for necessary pre-authorizations as required.
  • Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning the personal, financial, and medical or employment status of patients and their families.
  • Enter correct patient data into the computer terminals and make corrections to errors in records as necessary
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
  • Ensure patient satisfaction, including troubleshooting when there is a complaint and developing process improvements to prevent recurrences.
