Paralegal

Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. (QPWB), a multi-office national defense firm and the largest minority- and women-owned law firm in the United States, is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our New York City office, supporting attorneys handling civil litigation and insurance defense matters. About the Role

The Paralegal will support attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, from case inception through resolution and trial. This position is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented legal professional who is comfortable managing multiple cases, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced litigation environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong civil litigation background, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a busy legal team.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Support attorneys in all phases of civil litigation and insurance defense matters
• Draft and prepare pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, notices, correspondence, and other legal documents
• Assist with written discovery and coordinate the collection, review, and production of responsive documents
• Review, organize, and summarize medical records, incident reports, discovery materials, expert reports, and other case-related documentation
• Maintain case calendars and track court deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial dates
• Coordinate depositions, independent medical examinations, expert evaluations, hearings, and other case-related matters
• Communicate professionally with clients, insurance carriers, experts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and court personnel
• Assist with deposition, mediation, and trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, witness materials, and case files
• Prepare and assist with New York State and Federal Court filings
• Conduct factual investigations and assist attorneys with case analysis and development
• Maintain organized and accurate electronic and physical case files
• Monitor case progress and follow up on outstanding records, discovery, and other case-related items
• Assist with time entry, billing, and other administrative responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• 3+ years of paralegal experience in civil litigation preferred
• Insurance defense experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of litigation procedures, court rules, and case management
• Experience with New York State and Federal Court filing procedures and electronic filing systems preferred
• Experience reviewing and summarizing medical records and other litigation materials
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills with strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple cases, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative legal team
• Paralegal certificate or degree in Legal Studies preferred
