Park Groundskeeper I - Ballfields (full-time, $21.00-$22.50/hour)

ABOUT US: The Schaumburg Park District is an award-winning public agency that provides its 80,000 residents with a wide variety of recreational facilities, programs, events, parks and open spaces. Additionally, the Schaumburg Park District hosts thousands of visitors and guests annually at its activities and major sports tournaments.

JOB SUMMARY: The Parks Groundskeeper I reports to the Parks Supervisor and is primarily responsible for ballfield maintenance such as dragging ballfields, building pitcher’s mounds, and maintaining batter’s boxes. Will also assist with renovation of existing fields as well as perform seasonal duties including snow removal, salting, outdoor ice rink maintenance. Will assist with special event set-up and take-down and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be at least 18 years old. The best applicants will have a high school diploma (or equivalent) along with some prior experience in ballfield maintenance. Valid Illinois driver’s license is required. Candidates must have (or be able to earn within 6 months of acceptance) an Illinois Pesticide Public Operator’s license. This position can be physically demanding and includes significant exposure to dust, dirt and debris from dragging of the ballfields.

SCHEDULING & PAY: This is a full-time year-round non-exempt position. Schedule is generally Monday – Friday from 6:45am – 3:15pm. Overtime work may be required based on need. Weekend rotation required. Target hiring range is $21.00 to $22.50 per hour DOQ (depending on qualifications).
