About this role

A financial services group specializing in investments, payment, and fund administration globally is looking for a Payments & Reconciliation Specialist to join their team.

This is an office-based role and offers a salary of up to €35K + KPI bonus.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Perform daily reconciliation of client accounts, payment providers, and internal ledgers

  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks promptly, escalating discrepancies

  • Collaborate with Finance, Payments, Product, and Tech teams

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, safeguarding requirements, and regulatory obligations

  • Support internal and external audits

  • Prepare month-end reconciliations and reports, highlighting trends, risks, and actionable insights

  • Identify process inefficiencies, drive automation, and collaborate on scalable system improvements to reduce manual intervention and reconciliation breaks

  • Act as a key contact for reconciliation queries and support resolution of customer-impacting payment issues

  • Guide junior team members, review outputs for accuracy, and contribute to defining KPIs, SLAs, and reconciliation standards

Education, Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in reconciliation, payments operations, or finance in fintech, banking, or financial services in Malta

  • Fluency in English both written and spoken

  • Proven experience in high-volume payments reconciliation across multiple systems

  • Experience with client money or safeguarding rules is a plus

  • Excellent Excel skills

  • Previous experience with ERP or finance systems and reconciliation tools

  • Good understanding of payment flows such as cards, SEPA, PSPs, and clearing/settlement

  • Keen eye for detail

  • Analytical with a proactive and problem solving approach

  • Ability to handle large volumes of transaction data
