About this role

The Plant and Transport Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair and safe operations of plant machinery and transport vehicles. The role ensures that all equipment is compliant with safety regulations, operates efficiently and supports uninterrupted site operations in compliance with legal and manufacturer standards.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities:
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair plant equipment (excavators, loaders, cranes) and transport vehicles (trucks, vans).
  • Carry out mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system repairs.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records.
  • Service and repair company vehicles.
  • Ensure vehicles meet roadworthiness and legal compliance standards.
  • Assist with breakdowns and emergency repairs on site.
Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Identify hazards and report defects or unsafe equipment immediately. Support audits and inspections.
System management:
  • Using personally tablets, maintain service history, upload photos, etc. of assets onto ERP (COINS).
Stakeholder Communication:
  • Liaise with drivers, supervisors and management regarding equipment condition.
Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental:
  • Support Compliance to health and safety standards within the business unit and workshop.
  • Always use tools, equipment and PPE correctly.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Plant Maintenance or Vehicle Mechanics.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Full UK driving licence
