Sudan’s Policy Advisory Group (SPAG) is an independent, voluntary-based, and non-partisan group of Sudanese experts who provide an essential practitioner perspective on emerging social, political, and development contexts. SPAG offers advice on maximising the contribution of policy advocacy and research in policymaking, toward building a new strategic roadmap for the Republic of Sudan.
Sudan Vision 2030 is a policy-based project for a multistage national strategic vision that represents Sudanese people’s aspirations for a better future. The vision aim at creates the needed shift to transform Sudan into a leading country in Africa by the year 2030. From the economy to governance, and the rule of law to repositioning Sudan on the global agenda, Sudan Vision 2030 demonstrated a solid commitment and a national passion for change and development.
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Executive Project Manager, the Project Coordinator has the overall responsibility for providing overall supervision of the project activities. S/He will coordinate project activities with relevant team leaders and project managers.
The Project Coordinator contributes to the successful completion of project activities across various portfolios and project, and S/he is responsible for the administration and implementation of ABS II project outputs and activities.
Responsibilities
As delegated by the Executive Project Manager, the Project Coordinator will work to perform the following tasks and duties:
- Support the design and implementation of the project plan and related sub-plans and ensure timely and good-quality implementation of work plan activities.
- Build, motivate and lead a high-performing project team; coordinate and supervise the work of the project personnel.
- Continuously monitor progress against the approved work-plan; Identify changes in the external environment and promptly agree on necessary solutions/actions (ex. related to the planning and implementation of activities, need for new activities).
- Manage requests for the provision of project resources, in collaboration with the Resource Planning & Management Division.
- Monitoring of progress and risks, ensuring that changes are controlled, and problems addressed, and report on progress, including measures to address challenges and opportunities.
- Manage and monitor project risks and submit new risks to the Project Governance Board for consideration and decision on possible actions if required; update the status of these risks by maintaining the project risks log.
- Organize regular Status meetings and perform regular progress reporting to the Project Governance Board as agreed.
- Capture lessons learned during project implementation – a lessons learned log can be used in this regard.
- Facilitate and participate in regular internal meetings, and training events.
- Oversee and facilitate staff training for project staff to enable them to perform at the required level.
- Coordinate an exit strategy at least 6 months ahead of the project closure date; ensure closure of the project is done according to the established procedures.
Qualifications
Skills and Experience
- Experience in results-based project implementation and management.
- Experience in managing teams and promoting their capacity development.
- Prior experience with international development and/or non-profit organizations, and/or working in a start-up business environment is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communications, networking, and presentation skills (in English).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex tasks and prioritize competing demands in order to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
