Position Overview

The role involves preparing detailed construction take-offs and Bills of Quantities, developing tender and construction programmes, preparing subcontractor enquiry packages, and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotations to support estimating and tender activities. The role requires proficiency in Microsoft Project, Asta Powerproject, construction take-off/measurement software, Excel, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Measured Take-Offs:

  • Undertake detailed measured take-offs from drawings, specifications and tender documentation.

  • Produce accurate schedules of quantities for pricing purposes.

  • Identify discrepancies, omissions or areas requiring clarification.

  • Assist with measurement of roofing, building fabric, refurbishment and associated construction works.

• Bills of Quantities

  • PrepareBills of Quantities, pricing schedules and quantified scopes of work.

  • Break down work packages into clearly defined measurable elements.

  • Assist with developing tender cost plans and pricing documentation.

  • Update quantities following tender addenda, design development or scope changes.

• Tender & Construction Programming

  • Develop tender programmes demonstrating proposed sequencing, durations, procurement periods and construction activities.

  • Prepare programmes using Microsoft Project and/or Asta Powerproject. Assist with programme narratives and methodology information for tender submissions.

  • Update and maintain programmes following contract award where required.

  • Assist with monitoring progress against agreed programmes and identifying potential delays or critical activities.

• Subcontract Enquiry Development

  • Prepare subcontractor and supplier enquiry packages.

  • Produce clear scopes of work to accompany enquiries.

  • Identify appropriate packages requiring specialist subcontractor or supplier input.

  • Assist with issuing consistent information to enable like-for-like quotations.

  • Maintain enquiry and quotation schedules where required.

• Cost & Tender Comparisons

  • Undertake detailed comparisons of subcontractor and supplier quotations.

  • Normalise quotations to enable accurate like-for-like assessment.

  • Identify qualifications, exclusions, assumptions and potential gaps in quotations.

  • Prepare comparison schedules highlighting commercial and technical differences.

  • Assist the estimating team with identifying the most commercially advantageous tender returns.
    

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Quantity Surveying, Estimating, or Construction Tendering.

• Experience with construction take-offs, Bills of Quantities, and pricing schedules.

• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.

• Experience comparing subcontractor/supplier quotations and preparing tender documentation.

• Proficient in Microsoft Project, Asta Powerproject, Excel, and Word.

• Familiarity with construction take-off/measurement software and strong attention to detail.
