Principal Simulation Device Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the simulation, modelling, and analysis of semiconductor or photonic devices across a range of technologies.
• Develop and validate device models to support design, optimisation, and experimental work.
• Collaborate closely with process integration, optics & device engineering to provide actionable insights from simulation results.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers on simulation methodologies and best practices.
• Evaluate and implement new simulation tools and techniques to enhance modelling capabilities.
• Present technical findings to internal stakeholders and contribute to technology strategy.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• PhD in Physics with a focus on Condensed Matter Physics.
• This role requires deep knowledge of device physics, semiconductor simulation tools, and advanced analytical methods.
• Direct knowledge of advanced simulation tools ( examples include Silvaco ATLAS/Blaze, SiLENS, COMSOL, Optiwave)
• Experience interpreting simulation results and providing guidance to experimental/device teams.
• Strong programming or scripting skills for simulation automation (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.

• Experience with IIIV materials would be an advantage.
