About this role

FreeBalance is looking for a Professional Services Consultant – HR & Payroll to join its team in San José, Costa Rica. The successful candidate will work closely with government clients to implement and support FreeBalance HR and Payroll solutions, from requirements gathering and solution configuration to testing, training, and knowledge transfer. The role requires strong ERP/HRIS implementation experience, functional HR and Payroll expertise, and the ability to translate client needs into effective solutions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Implement and deploy FreeBalance HR and Payroll solutions following the company’s ISO 9001:2015 certified implementation methodology.
  • Conduct business requirements reviews with government and public sector clients, gathering and documenting HR and Payroll functional, business, and statutory requirements.
  • Analyze and map client HR and Payroll processes to FreeBalance functionality and prepare functional documentation and storyboards for client approval and sign-off.
  • Configure and demonstrate FreeBalance HR and Payroll solutions, including employee management, compensation, benefits, allowances, deductions, payroll calculations, and related processes.
  • Support the integration of HR and Payroll processes with financial management functions, including payroll accounting and General Ledger.
  • Develop test plans and conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of the configured solution with the client.
  • Develop training materials and deliver product and user training, including Train-the-Trainer sessions, while ensuring effective knowledge transfer to client teams.
  • Manage customer expectations and build effective client relationships while promoting FreeBalance values, methodologies, and good practices.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and project team to ensure activities, milestones, and deliverables are completed on time and within budget, providing regular updates on progress, risks, and issues.
  • Provide functional feedback to Product Management based on client requirements and implementation experience, and perform other duties related to assigned projects and FreeBalance OKRs.

    • Qualifications:

  • University degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Information Systems experience, including at least 5 years implementing ERP, HRIS, or Payroll solutions.
  • Strong functional knowledge of HR and Payroll processes, including employee management, compensation, benefits, allowances, deductions, and payroll calculations.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and configuring HR and Payroll solutions, including requirements gathering, process mapping, testing, deployment, and training, with the ability to translate business needs into system solutions.
  • Experience with ERP systems and the integration of HR/Payroll with financial management functions, particularly payroll accounting and General Ledger.
  • Experience working with government or public sector organizations and knowledge of public sector HR, Payroll, and/or financial management processes is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address functional and implementation challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated ability to build positive customer relationships and excellent verbal and written Spanish and English.
