About this role

About Frequency:

Frequency is a New Zealand-owned project advisory consultancy. We work alongside clients from day one, bringing practical delivery knowledge and experienced people into complex projects — often in live operational environments where judgement, coordination and relationships matter.

The Opportunity:

We asked Luke Clark, Infrastructure Lead and Partner, what he’s looking for in this role. “Success in this role looks like someone who brings energy, ambition, and strong delivery instincts. They’ll be structured, an excellent communicator, and someone who builds trust quickly with clients and project teams. They’ll back themselves, take ownership, and be open to feedback — because the best project managers are always learning, improving, and helping the people around them grow too.”

You’ll join Frequency’s high-performing Auckland infrastructure team, leading the delivery of major infrastructure projects valued at $50 million+ and making a real difference to communities across New Zealand. This role is suited to someone who combines strong infrastructure experience with sound judgement, clear communication, and a practical, client-focused approach. There’s also scope to support and mentor junior team members, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys helping others grow and is interested in building toward future people leadership.

Whether your background is in civil, mechanical, electrical, or broader infrastructure delivery, you’ll bring the confidence to lead well, build trusted relationships, and keep growing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the successful delivery of infrastructure projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Engage directly with clients to understand their objectives, provide ongoing updates, and build trusted relationships.
  • Apply your multidisciplinary expertise to oversee design, procurement, delivery, and close-out phases, ensuring best practice project governance.
  • Uphold Health & Safety standards, promoting a culture of proactive risk management across all stages of project delivery.
  • Identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to internal and client-facing project reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

About You:

  • 8+ years of project management experience, including strong client-side delivery experience in infrastructure.
  • Proven experience leading infrastructure projects in complex or live environments.
  • A structured approach to delivery, with strong planning, commercial, and risk management capability.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and internal teams.
  • Energy, ambition, and a genuine desire to keep growing.
  • The self-awareness to take feedback on board, reflect, and continuously improve.
  • Relevant qualifications in engineering, construction, project management, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to take ownership of outcomes.

How we work (and how you’ll grow)

We’re office-first, because in-person collaboration accelerates learning, strengthens relationships, and helps us solve problems faster. You’ll generally work between our Tauranga office and client or project sites, staying close to the work and the people who matter. Flexibility is supported where it makes sense.

We’re also intentional about development at Frequency. You’ll be supported through structured pathways that build both delivery capability and consulting confidence — with clear expectations at each stage and practical support to help you progress. That includes regular coaching and mentoring from senior leaders, and opportunities to take real ownership as you grow.

What you’ll get

  • Five weeks’ annual leave
  • 4.5% employer KiwiSaver contribution
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Wellbeing benefit and access to EAP for you and your whānau
  • Learning and development support, including forums, training budgets and professional memberships
  • Regular team connection moments and events
