We're offering a $4,000 sign-on bonus for experienced and compassionate Drug and Alcohol (AOD) Registered Nurses to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team at the Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre.

This is an opportunity to work within a dynamic and evolving primary healthcare environment, supporting people experiencing substance use challenges while contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of AOD services.

We’re looking for nurses who are passionate about AOD care, motivated to learn, and keen to contribute ideas and new ways of working. You’ll work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team with access to professional development, clinical supervision and opportunities to broaden your skills and progress your career.

Monday – Friday | 8:00am – 4:00pm

How You'll Make an Impact

You will provide high-quality, person-centred AOD care while working collaboratively with the broader healthcare team.

Your role will include:

• Conducting comprehensive assessments of individuals with drug and alcohol-related needs.
• Developing, implementing and reviewing individualised care plans.
• Providing medication management, including supporting detoxification and withdrawal management where required.
• Providing education and support around harm reduction, relapse prevention and recovery.
• Supporting the delivery of the OOAT Pharmacotherapy Program.
• Identifying and responding to clinical risk and changes in presentation.
• Working collaboratively with Mental Health, Primary Health and other multidisciplinary team members.
• Liaising with external services to support continuity of care and appropriate referrals.
• Contributing to clinical audits, quality improvement and service development activities.
• Supporting a positive team culture and contributing to continuous improvement in how AOD services are delivered.

Let's Talk About You!

We’re looking for an experienced AOD nurse who is curious, collaborative and committed to making a difference.

You’ll bring:

• Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1).
• Either:
  • a postgraduate qualification in AOD or Mental Health and 5+ years’ specialist AOD experience, or
  • 7+ years’ specialist AOD nursing experience.
• Strong clinical experience in AOD, substance use and withdrawal management.
• Sound clinical judgement and the ability to work confidently within a complex environment.
• A compassionate, respectful and non-judgemental approach to care.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• A willingness to embrace change, identify opportunities and contribute to improving service delivery.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining contemporary clinical practice.

Experience in high-security or detention healthcare is desirable but not essential.
