Sales Executive, Public Safety

Planet Technologies, the Nation’s leading Microsoft services provider to the public sector, is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our growing team as a Public Safety Sales Executive. In this role, you will be supporting impactful work that helps keep our communities safe and our government running.

This accomplished, results-driven seller and trusted advisor is energized by opening doors and building relationships. You will grow Planet’s footprint across the Public Safety community—serving state and local government, education, and the agencies and partners that support them—helping customers modernize and strengthen compliance on the Microsoft cloud. Success in this role comes from a blend of new-business development, expanding relationships with existing customers alongside our account teams, and partnering with Microsoft to reach and serve their customers. Above all, you bring a passion for solving mission-critical challenges for public-sector clients.

This role drives growth across three complementary sales motions:

New-business development – generate net-new pipeline and revenue through outbound prospecting, marketing campaigns, referrals, and presence at industry conferences and networking events.

Sell-through with Planet account teams – partner with our existing account teams to expand relationships and grow opportunities within our current customer base.

Sell-through with Microsoft – collaborate with Microsoft field and account teams to identify and serve their customers, positioning Planet’s services and solutions together.

Across these motions, you will:

Position Planet’s professional services and Microsoft cloud solutions to help Public Safety customers modernize and meet their goals.

Develop, maintain, and grow meaningful relationships with customers, partners, and Microsoft teams that expand Planet’s reach and create new opportunities.

Build vertical fluency in the Public Safety buyer landscape and stay current with the policies, procurement paths, and trends that shape public-sector buying decisions.

Translate compliance and security drivers into clear business value and solution-oriented conversations that create urgency.

Frame solution-oriented projects by engaging Cloud Strategists and technical presales resources at the right stage, helping ensure proposals are compelling, compliant, and competitive.

Partner across the organization in the identification, development, and prompt delivery of SOWs and RFX responses tailored to each client’s unique needs.

Provide timely, accurate forecasts and pipeline reporting to leadership, executing in accordance with Planet’s established sales methods, processes, and tools.

Meet or exceed bookings and pipeline-generation targets by prospecting, qualifying, and driving opportunities to close.

At least 3 years of sales experience in the Public Safety space, including state and local government (SLG) and education (EDU) customers.

A working understanding of the Microsoft technology landscape and how it applies to public-sector modernization.

Familiarity with Criminal Justice Information (CJI) and the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy.

A proven Trusted Advisor who builds on both new and existing relationships to deliver innovative professional services solutions.

Experience developing meaningful partner and channel relationships that generate pipeline and accelerate deals.

Comfort selling compliance- and security-driven engagements and translating requirements into business value.

Ability to prospect and cross-sell using both traditional methods (phone, email, campaigns) and creative, “out of the box” approaches.

Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the judgment to know what and when to escalate.

A collaborative team player with a customer-success mindset and a high level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to client satisfaction.

Willingness to travel as needed to customer sites and industry events.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field, or comparable work experience.
