Scaler Operator - Underground Limestone Mine

What You'll Be Doing

• Operate scaling equipment to remove loose rock and debris from mine walls and ceilings.
• Conduct regular inspections of mine areas to identify and address potential hazards.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on scaling equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
• Support the mining team with various tasks as needed.
• Work in an underground environment with heights of 27 feet and a temperature between 50-60 degrees.

• Must be able to operate scaling/bolting equipment safely and efficiently in a tight, underground environment
• Must be able to conduct and document pre-operational safety inspections on assigned equipment
• Must be able to visually evaluate roof and rib conditions
• Communicate repair and safety issues to supervisor and/or mechanic
• Available to work Saturdays and overtime as business demands dictate
• Must be punctual and have reliable transportation to and from work
• Must perform within the guidelines of federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
• Other job duties as assigned

Conditions of Employment

• Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
• Some positions require FMCSA regulated ongoing drug and alcohol testing.

Work Environment

• Role operates primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.
