Senior Accountant

Our client, an MFSA-authorised CSP based in Malta is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team. This is a great opportunity for a fully qualified accountant who is highly organised and motivated to manage a portfolio of clients.

This is a hybrid role, offering a salary of up to €35K, plus an annual bonus.

Please note that only candidates already based in Malta can be considered.

Role & Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the accounting department

• Supervise and review the work of Accounts Executives and junior staff

• Monitor task progress and ensure all deadlines are met

• Uphold and enforce compliance with accounting policies and procedures

• Act as the key point of contact for auditors and handle client queries promptly

• Support senior management by carrying out requests and escalating matters where necessary

• Prepare and submit VAT returns and year-end management accounts

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records for clients on a monthly basis

Education, Skills & Experience

• UOM Bachelor's or Masters in Accounts or ACCA qualified or equivalent

• Maltese Value Added Tax (VAT) qualification acquired from an established professional institution in Malta – non-negotiable

• 2+ years of experience in a client accounting role in Malta

• Fluency in English at a C2/native level both written and spoken

• Fluency in Italian is a plus

• Strong understanding of GAPSME and IFRS

• Ability to work without supervision

• Ability to handle confidential information and perform under pressure

• Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills

• Strong prioritisation and organisational skills
