Senior Backend developer

Role summary

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Backend Developer to lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable, high-quality backend systems. In this role, you will drive technical architecture, mentor teammates and collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to deliver robust solutions.

You’ll champion engineering best practices, proactively identify areas for improvement and lead efforts to ensure system reliability, performance and a seamless customer experience.

What you’ll do

• Design and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions for complex scenarios, ensuring high-quality results that may be consumed by other teams.
• Collaborate effectively within your team and with cross-functional partners, such as Product, Design/UX, DevOps, and other R&D teams, representing your team as needed.
• Maintain and improve the team's engineering practices, suggesting and implementing technology, patterns, or process enhancements.
• You will play a key part in migrating legacy systems to modern, cloud-native architectures, driving technical excellence, and mentoring teammates.
• Support system and data migrations, ensuring minimal disruption, backward compatibility, and performance optimization.
• Proactively identify areas of improvement in team systems, processes, and scalability.
• Lead by example in code quality, contributing significantly to code reviews and acting as a focal point for engineering excellence questions.
• Help monitor production systems, investigate potential issues, and lead efforts to resolve critical production challenges while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
  

Who you are

• 6+ years in backend software engineering roles, with demonstrated ability to navigate technical trade-offs and ambiguity effectively.
• Proficiency in C#, Java, or similar object-oriented languages.
• Proven experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of relational databases like SQL Server.
• Experience with message queues or streaming platforms (e.g., RabbitMQ, SQS, Kafka).
• Exposure to legacy system modernization or platform migration projects is highly valued.
• Strong experience writing unit tests and ensuring high test coverage.
• Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Experience in designing new functionality for existing complex components while maintaining scalability and performance.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• BA/BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.

What could set you apart

• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, especially in migration or modernization contexts.
• Practical experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Familiarity with non-relational databases such as MongoDB.
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts, AI-enabled APIs, or building backend services that support intelligent features.
• Experience mentoring engineers and supporting technical growth within the team.
