Overview of the role
The Senior Bookkeeper's role is to provide accurate and timely bookkeeping support ,with a primary focus on Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR). The Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining reliable financial records, processing transactions efficiently, and ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards and internal procedures. Main duties include:
Accounts Payable (AP)

Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner

Perform invoice matching (PO, delivery, invoice) where applicable

Prepare and process payment runs in accordance with approval workflows

Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies

Maintain accurate and up-to-date creditor records

Communicate with suppliers regarding payment queries
Accounts Receivable (AR)

Issue customer invoices promptly and accurately

Apply receipts and allocate customer payments

Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts

Perform customer account reconciliations

Manage credit notes, adjustments, and billing queries

Support cash flow tracking through AR reporting
General Bookkeeping

Bank and credit card reconciliations

Maintain general ledger accuracy

Assist with month-end close procedures

Ensure transactions are coded correctly

Maintain organized digital filing systems

Support audit and compliance requirements
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in accounting,finance or related discipline
-
Previous bookkeeping experience preferred

Good understanding of accounting principles
-
Basic knowledge in accounting and business management software, such as Xero and Microsoft.

Experience with Australian clients or accounting standards is highly preferred

AR experience required

Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines

High level of integrity and confidentiality

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Comfortable dealing with huge volumes of complex data
