Senior Network & System Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network & System Engineer to support, deploy, and optimize our customer access network infrastructure and supporting systems. This role requires strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration, Juniper and Cisco network environments, and software release deployment.The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and the ability to contribute to strategic business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive the day-to-day operations, deployment,and support of complex enterprise systems, network infrastructure, and applications, ensuring high availability and performance. 
• Perform in-depth incident management, including troubleshooting, diagnosis, and resolution of technical issues, often under pressure. 
• Participate in on-call rotations and provide out-of-hours support for critical incidents. 
• Implement and manage system configurations, patches, and upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to services. 
• Collaborate with development teams, infrastructure teams, and vendors to resolve complex technical problems and implement new solutions. 
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, applications, and support procedures. 
• Proactively identify potential issues and implement preventive measures to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities for automation and develop tooling and scripts to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and reliability.
• Review technical designs, support testing activities,and take primary responsibility for the deployment of new systems, software releases, infrastructure changes, and application functionalities.
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and operational standards by implementing hardening measures, managing certificates, and supporting remediation activities.
• Mentor junior team members and share technical knowledge and best practices. 
• Adhere to ITIL best practices for incident, problem, and change management. 

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in system and network administrationor a similar technical role in a complex enterprise environment. 
• Proven expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco ISR, ASR, and Catalyst platforms, as well as Juniper/HPE SRX and SSR technologies.
• Strong understanding of network protocols (IPsec & BGP), firewalls, load balancers, and DNS. 
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, Bash, Perl, Tcl, and YAML.
• Working knowledge of SQL, including the ability to execute and interpret queries for validation, troubleshooting, and operational support purposes.
• Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, and version control platforms such as Bitbucket.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues independently and as part of a team. 
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills with great attention to detail. 
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. 
• Professional certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP-SEC, or RHCSA are a plus.
