AI Summary

Senior/Staff Electrical Engineer responsible for end-to-end hardware design, bring-up, validation, and collaboration with firmware and systems to ensure robust automotive-grade electrical modules.

About this role

About Humble Robotics
Working at Humble Robotics means taking on the biggest change in ground transportation in decades. We’re building an autonomous, zero-emissions hauler that dramatically lowers the cost of freight with groundbreaking vision-based AI, designed for today’s global logistics network.
We’re a fast-moving, close-knit team of AV industry veterans and innovative thinkers. We don’t believe culture can be engineered – but when it falls into place, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
Progress has never felt so present.
Position Overview
Own electrical design of next gen. hardware modules - architecture, schematic + layout prototype bring-up, validation, and transition to robust hardware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Schematic capture and layout - power tree, high-speed interfaces, protection, grounding strategy, tolerances, derating. Produce release-quality design packages.
  • Prototype bring-up and debug: First power-on through stable system operation; instrument, isolate, and resolve issues across power integrity, signal integrity and EMI coupling.
  • Design for automotive robustness - transients/ESD, brownout behavior, fault containment, harness realities, and vehicle power conditions; incorporate EMC and functional safety considerations appropriate to the platform.
  • Design Validation: Define bench + vehicle validation plans (stress, thermal, vibration-informed checks, fault injection where relevant).
  • Own PCB fab/assembly engagement, component selection strategy, alternates, DFM/DFT reviews, and build/test documentation; drive issues to closure through builds.
  • Unblock integration across teams, and drive design reviews and root-cause for complex failures.
  • Partner with firmware, autonomy, and systems to debug end-to-end issues; set best practices for bring-up, lab workflows, and design reviews
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Electrical, Computer or Mechatronics Engineering
  • 8+ years relevant hardware engineering experience (or equivalent scope/impact)
  • Proven ownership of multiple PCB designs shipped into real systems
  • Strong power design fundamentals (switching regulators, sequencing, protection, thermal/derating)
  • Comfort with mixed-signal + digital design tradeoffs; strong debug skills
  • Expert in Altium Designer (schematic + constraints + outputs; ability to guide and perform layout review)
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Automotive/ Robotics/ Industrial/ Aerospace strongly preferred.
  • High-speed design and RF experience
  • Sensor platform integration experience (Camera, Radar, Lidar, IMU, GNSS), and timesync
  • Familiarity with DFM/DFT and production test strategy
  • Embedded firmware competence (C/C++/Python) for board bring-up automation and validation
  • Compensation

Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including qualifications, skills, experience, and location. We also offer competitive equity compensation and benefits.
