Settlements Officer

Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Settlement Officer to manage the accurate and timely processing, reconciliation, and settlement of transactions across our operations. The ideal candidate combines strong operational settlement expertise with advanced data analytics capabilities, using tools like Excel to identify discrepancies, streamline processes, and support informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities

• Process and verify settlement instructions, ensuring accuracy of all details.
• Perform daily reconciliations between internal records, custodian/bank statements, and counterparty confirmations, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Monitor settlement failures, exceptions, and breaks; escalate and follow through to resolution within SLA timeframes.
• Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and trackers using advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, macros/VBA) to monitor settlement performance and identify trends.
• Analyze settlement data to identify patterns, root causes of recurring failures, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Liaise with custodians, correspondent banks, brokers, and internal front-office/middle-office teams to ensure smooth trade settlement.
• Maintain accurate records in line with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the implementation and testing of automation or system enhancements affecting settlement workflows.
  

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field
• Advanced Excel skills required, including:
  • Pivot tables and pivot charts
  • Advanced formulas (INDEX-MATCH, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS/COUNTIFS, array formulas)
  • Macros/VBA for process automation
  • Data validation and conditional formatting for exception monitoring
• Strong data analytics skills — comfort working with large datasets, identifying trends, and translating data into actionable insights
• Familiarity with SQL, Power BI, Power Query, or Python for data analysis is a strong plus
