Shifts: 1st & 2nd Shift
Pay: Up to $28/hour, based on experience
2nd Shift Differential: +$3/hour

Position Overview

Seeking an experienced steel fabrication fitter to prepare and assemble structural steel components. This hands-on role requires blueprint reading, accurate layout and measurements, component positioning, and proper fit-up before final fabrication.

Key Responsibilities

Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication specifications.

Lay out, measure, mark, position, and fit structural steel components.

Prepare steel parts for fabrication and assembly.

Align and secure components according to drawing dimensions and specifications.

Set up and operate fabrication equipment, including a track torch.

Monitor measurements and component placement throughout the fabrication process.

Inspect assemblies for proper dimensions, alignment, fit-up, and overall workmanship.

Identify and correct fitting or alignment issues when necessary.

Coordinate with supervisors and other shop personnel to meet production requirements.

Keep tools, materials, and work areas clean and organized.

Follow established safety procedures and shop requirements.

Qualifications

Previous experience in structural steel fitting, layout, or fabrication.

Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings.

Hands-on experience with steel fitting, alignment, positioning, and assembly.

Ability to set up and operate a track torch.

Familiarity with welding methods, fabrication machinery, and common shop tools.

Strong measuring skills and attention to detail.

Ability to produce accurate, quality work in a production environment.

Ability to work effectively as part of a fabrication team.

Commitment to safe work practices and an organized shop environment.

AWS or other welding certifications are a plus.
