Position Summary

Hiring a Steel Shipping Supervisor to coordinate the movement and shipment of structural steel from the fabrication facility. This role combines hands-on material handling with team leadership, shipment coordination, documentation, and safety oversight.

What You’ll Do

Direct daily steel loadout and shipping activities.

Confirm steel is properly identified, positioned, secured, and ready for delivery.

Check material markings, load contents, and shipping paperwork for accuracy.

Work with logistics, production, and shop personnel to keep deliveries on schedule.

Complete load tickets and maintain shipping records using production/shipping software.

Train and assist new employees with department procedures and equipment.

Lead daily safety discussions and reinforce required safety practices.

Monitor workflow and recommend improvements to shipping and loadout processes.

Provide hands-on direction to the team in a busy structural steel manufacturing environment.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in structural steel shipping or material handling.

2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.

Experience operating:

• Overhead cranes
• Telehandlers
• Vertical mast lifts
• Forklifts
• Familiarity with Tekla EPMgo or similar production/shipping software preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple loads, deadlines, and production requirements.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, accuracy, and quality.
